TANED is a leading organization that enables Tanzania natural resources management institutions and local communities, especially youths to acquire knowledge and participate in conservation activities for capacity building, environmental monitoring, sustainable use, and livelihood improvement.
TANED is a non-governmental organization (NGO) that have identified the need for improved infrastructure that links scientific knowledge with livelihood and environmental stainability of local communities. TANED seeks to be a center of excellence in promoting and empowering women and girls near protected areas.
TANED is registered under the NGO Act, No. 24 of 2002 as amended from time to time. The registered head office of TANED is situated at Njiro street, Arusha town, Arusha district in Arusha region. TANED is an organization that operates within Tanzania mainland.

Eivin Røskaft

Røskaft is a professor emeritus in evolutionary biology and conservation. Conservation of African and Asian protected areas is challenging because of human population increase, biodiversity encroachment and human activities /incl. tourism). Thus, it is important to understand any kind of encroachment of natural resources in the light of evolution and human behaviour.
Røskaft has over the last 40 years been leading projects in Africa and Asia related to human-wildlife conflict, population dynamics of animals, and animal behaviour in relation to human activities. Røskaft is concerned about how the anthropometric drivers impact human livelihood in rural Africa. Therefore, his current interest is to build up Capacity among local people in Africa/Asia so that local people can take part in conservation to insure their own livelihood in tandem with sustainable biodiversity conservation in their vicinity.
He was leading an EU founded project called AfricanBioServices from which TANED was conceived. Through TANED he will use his experience to build up conservation competence among young Tanzanians depending on the ecosystems surrounding them.

Grace Emily Kabitina
Arusha, Tanzania
Grace Kabitina is the daily manager of TANED. She has a degree from College of African Wildlife Management and has a long experience in capacity building of young Tanzanians. Grace is particularly engaged in women’s role in conservation and empowering women in their daily activities.
Grace has worked in and in the vicinity of many protected areas in Tanzania, particularly in the northern parts of the country. Grace is taking care of the daily activities as well as engaged in projects in the field.
